de-genesis

Dear Designers...

Several moons ago (and by this I mean throughout this past Fall 2008 semester) I had the (mis)fortune of taking a long hard look at my short time here back on the UC Berkeley campus. As someone who is a "returnee" from undergrad, I can easily say that I am in a place that I truly love. It was not until I understood how short my stay would be and that I still had not found my "niche" that I got an inkling of my future studies... but not until I came out the other side of certain trials and tribulations.

Regardless of backstory (and I can promise it will come out in pieces as we continue this semester), I have created an integrative personal curriculum focused on the role of design on innovation in a business context. Part of this is independent study and so I am participating in a fair amount of "extra-curricular" formal coursework. As such, I want to share my thoughtful wandering in the woods this Spring with you, my classmates and friends. My design-partners-in-crime, if you will.

I promise to keep things short and include attachments or links (where they do not violate copyright laws as I humbly understand them). This is not the long philosophical discourses I parade on your portals in my other blogs (links to come later)... but as this dialogue ensues (and YES, this is a DIALOGUE... so comment, PLEASE), I hope to learn as much from you and I humbly hope you enjoy my meandering musings.

That's it for now...
Best,
Stan (my other name at school)
